The Foundation is named in honor of Jonathan Rhoads, M.D., for his outstanding and renowned contributions to science in the fields of clinical nutrition, nutrition support, and surgery. The Foundation funds exceptional scientific research projects on clinical nutrition and metabolic support.

Future research should include both basic science-oriented investigations aimed at improving our understanding of the science of nutrient regulation in different disease states, as well as clinical and translational research to determine how the practice of nutrition support can continue to be refined and individualized to optimize clinical outcomes.

Vision:
The Foundation envisions an environment that develops and sustains a vital community of committed nutrition researchers.

Mission:
To support the personal and professional development of nutrition researchers throughout their careers.

Foundations' Core Values:

Nurture: Supporting personal and professional growth
Integrity: Endorsing honest, ethical behavior
Inquiry: Seeking new knowledge
Quality: Championing scientifically sound research

ASPEN21 Randomized Prize Drawing *Coming Soon!*

By donating $20 or more to the Foundation any time throughout the month of March, you will have your name entered into the randomized prize drawing for some fantastic items! You do not have to be an ASPEN21 attendee to participate in the prize drawing. The more you donate, the better your chances are of being selected for one of the prizes. The prize drawing and notification of winners will take place on April 14, 2021.

We will be giving out prizes of all levels including:
  • One-on-one session with a nutrition support expert
  • 2022 conference registration
  • 1-year ASPEN membership
  • 2022 Research Workshop Registration
  • ASPEN Publication
  • Jabra Evolve2 40 USB-C Stereo Wired Headset
  • Amazon Echo Show (2)
  • Anker Portable Charger
Each prize drawing entry will be entered into an Excel spreadsheet. The winners name will be drawn using the Excel “randbetween” formula which will generate a random name/winner. The ASPEN Rhoads Research Foundation will maintain the Excel spreadsheet in our archives and will not release it to the public to protect the privacy of each individual. Void where prohibited by law.

Why Give

The impact of your investment is impressive. Scientists receiving our grants have gone on to conduct research leading to important scientific advances. These scientists have used the Foundation’s grant funding to gain the experience and credibility necessary for successful careers in nutrition research. Most importantly, their work has helped improved the quality of life for thousands of patients. Download our brochure to read their stories.

To continue this important work, we must:

  • Attract greater number of promising future investigators
  • Raise our level of grant support in order to give young researchers a good start
  • Increase the number of grants we fund each year

"With more grants and more grant funding we will be able to better address the crisis we currently face in academic nutrition research. this research – whether in the laboratory or at the bedside – will translate directly to humans and improve our understanding of how to use nutrition to ‘treat’ our patients. the work the ASPEN Rhoads Research Foundation is doing is critical to the future of our field and our patients."  – Dr. Paul Wischmeyer

Contributions made to the Foundation are tax-deductible to the fullest extend of the law.
