Unpublished basic or clinical research and data, practice abstracts, retrospective studies, vignettes, or case studies.
Abstracts previously presented at another conference or previously published in a peer-reviewed journal no more than six months prior to the ASPEN Nutrition Science and Practice Conference abstract submission deadline of September 18.
Original investigative abstracts will be reviewed for oral or poster presentations and may be eligible for Original Abstract Research Awards. All accepted abstracts are published in the Journal of Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (JPEN)
in print for awarded abstracts, and online for all.
Investigators who submit abstracts to the ASPEN Nutrition Science and Practice Conference are eligible to apply for several prestigious abstract awards:
Abstract of Distinction: Honors first authors of top-scoring abstracts.
Best of ASPEN Nutrition Science and Practice Abstracts: Awarded to the top-scoring abstracts in each of the primary categories presented at the conference.

Harry M. Vars and Promising Investigator Awards: Honors early-career investigators with the best research presentations. (Original abstracts submitted by early career investigators are eligible)
Research Trainee Awards: Honors investigators still in training who have submitted top-scoring abstracts. (Original abstracts submitted by trainees are eligible)
International Abstract Research Awards: Honor international investigators who have submitted top-scoring abstracts. (Original abstracts submitted by investigators residing outside the US are eligible)
Research Workshop Travel Awards: Honors early-career investigators who have submitted top-scoring abstracts that align with the 2018 Research Workshop, "The Effect of Nutrition during Pregnancy on the Offspring's Epigenetic Status, Growth, and Health."(Original abstracts submitted by early career investigators are eligible)
