Investigators who submit abstracts to the ASPEN Nutrition Science & Practice Conference are eligible to apply for several prestigious abstract awards:

Abstract of Distinction: Honors first authors of top-scoring abstracts. 

Best of ASPEN Nutrition Science & Practice Abstracts: Awarded to the top-scoring abstracts in each of the primary categories presented at the conference.

  • Parenteral Nutrition Therapy
  • Enteral Nutrition Therapy
  • Malnutrition, Obesity, Nutrition Practice Concepts and Issues
  • Critical Care and Critical Health Issues
  • GI and Other Nutrition and Metabolic Related Topics
  • Pediatric, Neonatal, Pregnancy, and Lactation

Harry M. Vars and Promising Investigator Awards: Honors early-career investigators with the best research presentations. (Original abstracts submitted by early career investigators are eligible)    

Research Trainee Awards: Honors investigators still in training who have submitted top-scoring abstracts. (Original abstracts submitted by trainees are eligible)  

International Abstract Research Awards: Honor international investigators who have submitted top-scoring abstracts. (Original abstracts submitted by investigators residing outside the US are eligible)  

Research Workshop Travel Awards: Honors early-career investigators who have submitted top-scoring abstracts that align with the 2019 Research Workshop, "The Relationship between the Intestinal Barrier and Chronic Disease."(Original abstracts submitted by early career investigators are eligible)
