Dudrick Research Symposium: Interactions Between Diet, Microbiome, and Host Physiology (M10)

Monday, March 4 • 8:00 AM – 9:30 AM ET

In Person_Virtual

The 2024 Dudrick Research Symposium: Interactions Between Diet, Microbiome, and Host Physiology, has been planned by the 2023 Stanley J. Dudrick Research Scholar Award winner, Nikhil Pai, MD, CNSC, NASPGHAN-F, Physician, Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology & Nutrition, McMaster Children’s Hospital, and Associate Professor, Pediatrics, McMaster University, Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.

This cutting-edge ASPEN symposium will feature some of the top scientists in the world discussing interactions between the gut microbiome and nutrition. Participants will hear about innovative research that leverages our understanding of the microbiome to personalize nutrition therapy, identify novel food-based treatments, and ultimately expand our understanding of the potential and pitfalls of traditional public health nutritional guidance.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

  1. Summarize the importance of the microbiome in assessing the relationships between diet and disease.
  2. Describe cutting-edge research exploring interactions between the microbiome and nutrition.
  3. Explore the future of precision nutrition management and how the microbiome can help tailor patient recommendations.
  4. Discuss the role of “big data,” “multi-omics,” and machine-learning in studying the broad effects of dietary therapy.
