ASPEN is pleased to announce the following grants to support conference and travel expenses for 12 ASPEN23 attendees. These grants provide clinicians with educational opportunities to further their knowledge of nutrition support, enhance their skills, and network with colleagues and experts from around the world.

The grant application period is now closed.

HPEN Trailblazer Award
Sponsored by Coram/CVS Specialty Infusion Services

This award supports two outstanding homecare clinicians—nurses, dietitians, and pharmacists—with travel expenses to ASPEN23 of up to $2,000. Reimbursable expenses include ASPEN membership for up to 1 year, conference registration, travel costs, and hotel.

The HPEN Trailblazer Award was created in recognition of Melinda Parker, Gisela Barnadas, and Marcia Boatwright—pioneer homecare clinicians who left an indelible mark on the industry and enhanced the quality of care for the nutrition support patients they served.

To be eligible for the HPEN Trailblazer Award, applicants must:

  • Be a clinician (nurse, dietitian, pharmacist) currently practicing in homecare in the US.
  • Demonstrate excellence in HPEN patient care, including clinical management and patient/caregiver education, and significant contributions to the field of home nutrition support. Activity and leadership in local, regional, or national professional and/or patient advocacy organizations will be strongly considered in grant selection.
  • Attend the ASPEN23 conference in person in Las Vegas, Nevada.

ASPEN membership is not required for consideration.

To apply, please submit:

  • Completed grant application.
  • Current CV.
  • Personal statement as to why the applicant qualifies for this award, including key contributions to quality HPEN patient care, what makes them a trailblazer, and how they have shown innovation in practice.
  • Names of two individuals—either two colleagues OR one colleague and one patient or caregiver—who have agreed to provide endorsements and convincing evidence of the applicant’s contributions and suitability for the award. ASPEN staff will contact the named individuals directly for their endorsements.
