The National Board of Nutrition Support Certification (NBNSC) is an independent credentialing board established in 1984 by the American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (ASPEN).

The Board of Directors of the National Board of Nutrition Support Certification is pleased to announce that after conducting extensive research through several practice audits, we have identified a common core of practice across the various disciplines involved in nutrition support. NBNSC developed the credential, the Certified Nutrition Support Clinician® (CNSC®) that is fair and valid for all professional disciplines involved in nutrition support.

The dietitians, nurses, pharmacists, physician assistants and physicians who provide care share a common body of knowledge and expertise that NBNSC has captured in the current exam format. The content of the exam reflects the tasks that healthcare professionals provide on a daily basis.

Those who pass the certification exam beginning in 2008 will receive the credentials CNSC®. The discipline specific credentials of CNSD, CNSN, and CNSP are no longer recognized.
