The National Board of Nutrition Support Certification (NBNSC) is an independent credentialing board established in 1984 by the American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (ASPEN).

First day of the testing period:  May 6, 2023

Last day of the testing period:  May 20, 2023

Application Deadline: March 22, 2023

Application Late Deadline: April 5, 2023*^

Fall 2023 Dates

First day of the testing period:  October 7, 2023

Last day of the testing period:  October 21, 2023

Application Deadline: August 23, 2023

Application Late Deadline: September 6, 2023*^

Application is open. 


*Applications submitted during the late deadline period will incur a $50 late fee in addition to the standard application fee. 

^Applications will not be accepted after this deadline, no exceptions.

Locations

NBNSC offers computerized testing for all of its certification programs.  Over 800 domestic and international sites are available, with candidates selecting preferred testing locations after registering for the exam. NBNSC certification exams will be offered at LaserGrade testing centers. To search for the site nearest you: click here  

 

NOTE: You will not be able to select a testing center on the Prometric site prior to receiving “Examination Scheduling Authorization” for the certification exam from PTC.

Fees

Application fee for the Certification Examination for Nutrition Support Clinicians:

ASPEN Members              $330.00  

Non-ASPEN Members       $430.00

The reduced registration fee for ASPEN members is nontransferable between individuals or within departments/institutions and is available only to those whose dues are paid in full a the time of exam registrations. 

Active members of the Nurses Organization of Veterans Affairs (NOVA) may sit for the Certification Examination for Nutrition Support Clinicians at a rate that is $50 less than the non-ASPEN member rate.  Active NOVA members, at the time of application submission should submit documentation of active NOVA membership with their application.  Active NOVA members who are also ASPEN members may not combine the discounts, only one discounted application fee may be used, either the ASPEN member fee or the discount for NOVA members.
