The National Board of Nutrition Support Certification (NBNSC) is an independent credentialing board established in 1984 by the American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (ASPEN).

Nutrition support is a specialized practice that requires the expertise of multiple health-care professionals including physicians, dietitians, pharmacists, physician assistants, and nurses.

NBNSC's credentialing program provides a valuable addition to your professional experience and contributes to excellent care. The Certified Nutrition Support Clinician®(CNSC®) credential identifies you as a qualified nutrition support provider. It is the most widely accepted, visible nutrition support certification with recognition both nationally and internationally.

COVID-19 Update:  The NBNSC has been notified by the Professional Testing Corporation (PTC) that Prometric has closed all their test centers through at least April 16, 2020. This reopening date is before the CNSC testing period begins on April 25th. However, there is also a strong possibility that this might not happen and that the testing centers will not be open for the CNSC exam.  If candidates cannot test,  the NBNSC and PTC will provide them with the available options at that time, these options may include the extending of all expiring CNSC certification until the end of the next available testing period.  N.B. This extension will not apply to expiring certificates if the candidate has not already signed up for the April 2020 exam.

We are working closely with PTC  as things keep evolving and changing.  PTC has a website (https://ptcny.com/ptc-update-coronavirus-outbreak/) which will be updated regularly with the testing status. We advise all candidate to check back with PTC closer to the April 25th start date at which time we will have a clearer idea of the options.
