Nutrition Support Teams (NSTs) in today's healthcare environment have changed dramatically since the 1970s. However, there are still challenges and opportunities for improvement. Some barriers that NSTs may encounter include clinicians' time constraints, a lack of teamwork and coordination, and the perceived value of the team.
This webinar will discuss how NSTs can ensure the delivery of effective and safe parenteral nutrition (PN) client-centered care through ongoing training and competency, collaboration with primary teams, implementation of standardized/evidence-based protocols, and using the transdisciplinary model.
Learning Objectives
- Identify the challenges and opportunities for nutrition support teams, and role delineation in the current and future healthcare environment.
- Summarize the evidence and best practices for nutrition support team interventions and outcomes for PN in healthcare today.
- Discuss the transdisciplinary model for the provision of PN.
