Take this opportunity to review bioethical principles with a focus on the four core ethical principles and application to clinical practice. You will learn how to navigate complex situations through understanding and application of autonomy, beneficence, non-maleficence, and justice. Learners will learn to identify HIPAA expectations ensuring principles of patient confidentially, privacy, and autonomy. Adherence to HIPAA regulations will be discussed to foster a framework of trust between patients and clinicians, supporting broader goals of patient care practices. A case study will be presented on a patient on parenteral nutrition with substance use disorder to identify and resolve ethical dilemmas in a real-world approach.

An in-depth look at case reviews will highlight strategies to identify personal awareness and mitigate bias in clinical care.
