ASPEN's Nutrition Support Nurses Practice Section

The Nutrition Support Nurses Practice section provide structure for the discussion of practice, research, and education issues that are relevant to nurses; to advance ASPEN’s goals by providing optimal nutrition to patients across a variety of health care settings; to create a forum for discussion of issues pertinent to the profession of nursing; to create a network of nutrition support nurses to provide information to nurses who are not nutrition specialists; to discuss ways to enhance interdisciplinary collaboration with colleagues in other disciplines as well as across nursing sub-specialty groups.

Letter from the Chair

V RossWelcome to the ASPEN Nutrition Support Nurse Section where nurses are passionate about providing the best evidence-based nutrition care. Whether you are new to the section or have been here for a while, we want you to feel welcome and invite you to become involved in finding the answers to your nutrition support questions.

I am honored to serve as the Chair for the Nursing Section. As an ASPEN member for “a few decades,” I have always been in awe of what our group accomplishes working together. Our group will be planning and submitting proposals and presenting at Clinical Nutrition Week 2017, updating enteral and parenteral skills for nurses across the country, collaborating and writing new nursing standards, contributing to new enteral guidelines and other ASPEN publications, leading research to improve nutrition care, and serving on ASPEN committees. Our accomplishments happen because of members like you. No matter if you are new to our group or have been around for a “few decades,” we welcome your involvement.

Please feel free to email me if you have a specific interest or area where you would like to become involved. All section members are invited to join in on our monthly conference calls. Please contact ASPEN if you are not already receiving the invites and information about our monthly calls.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Regards,
Vicki M. Ross RN, PhD
Chair, Nutrition Support Nurse Section
