A.S.P.E.N. Awards

Each year A.S.P.E.N. recognizes and presents awards to members who have contributed to the body of nutrition support practice knowledge and the betterment of the Society as a whole. Their accomplishments have improved the quality and efficacy of the profession and their actions provide a positive example for healthcare professionals.

Distinguished Service Awards

These awards recognize A.S.P.E.N. members who have made exceptional leadership and practice contributions that have furthered the vision and mission of the society over a sustained period of time.  Winners of these awards are recognized during the President’s Address at Clinical Nutrition Week.

Distinguished Nutrition Support Dietitian, Advanced Clinical Practice Award:

In addition to the service award, the dietetics section of A.S.P.E.N. pays tribute to one dietitian member annually in recognition of his or her outstanding contributions in leadership, practice and advancement of dietitians in the field of nutrition support.  The recipient of this award is recognized annually during the President’s Address at Clinical Nutrition Week.

Stanley Serlick Award

This award, sponsored by Hospira, Inc., recognizes up to two pharmacists annually who have made significant contributions to improving safe practices for parenteral nutrition through published literature, membership on national committees or task forces and/or presentations at regional and national meetings.  Award winners are recognized at A.S.P.E.N.’s Clinical Nutrition Week.  Criteria and eligibility requirements are now available.

 

 

Excellence in Nutrition Support Education

The purpose of this $1,000 cash award, given annually, is to recognize one nutrition support educator’s excellence in the delivery of professional education.   The award is open to A.S.P.E.N. members who have teaching responsibilities in an academic, community, or other supervised training setting.  Criteria and eligibility requirements are now available.
 

Best Practices Award In Specialized Nutrition Support

This award is given to one innovative and outstanding nutrition support program annually, with a goal of fostering innovation in-patient care and safety with respect to specialized nutrition support.  The winning program will be selected from the Nutrition Practice Poster abstracts submitted annually for Clinical Nutrition Week.  The award consists of a travel grant for a designated member of the winning nutrition support team  to attend Clinical Nutrition Week to present the abstract and accept the award on behalf of the program.  Criteria and eligibility requriements are now available.

 

Lyn Howard Nutrition Support Consumer Advocacy Award

American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (A.S.P.E.N.) members work directly with patients, families, and/or caregivers who perform admirable activities and heroically advocate for others like themselves and their families. In order to recognize those individuals, an award of appreciation to one patient/family member/caregiver will be given on an annual basis. This A.S.P.E.N. Patient,  Family, Caregiver Advocacy Award has been named in honor of an A.S.P.E.N. member and Oley Foundation co-founder,  Lyn Howard, MB, FRCP. Criteria and application form are now available.
