Greetings from the OSPEN President

The recent A.S.P.E.N. Clinical Nutrition Week held in January in Orlando was a great success.  A number of O.S.P.E.N. members were in attendance and were active as members of various committees, participating on the Board of Directors or involved as speakers in numerous sessions.  Jay Mirtallo is finishing his term as President and Ainsley Malone will be starting her term as President Elect.  The O.S.P.E.N. chapter hosted a reception at the hotel and it was a great success.  Historically, Ainsley has acted as our social director and, as usual, she did an outstanding job of coordinating this gathering.

The planning committee has finalized the Spring Conference which is to be held near King’s Island in Mason Ohio on April 20th.  My thanks go out particularly to Gina Brittain who has devoted much of her time and a tremendous amount of effort in bringing all of the pieces together.  Dr Vince Vanek is currently finalizing the Fall Symposium program which is scheduled in Youngstown on November 15th

I would like publicly thank our past president Lydia Pourzanjani for her service in 2011.  Under her leadership O.S.P.E.N. continued to thrive and stay as one of the largest, most active chapters in A.S.P.E.N.  I would like to thank all of the Committee and Board members who served us throughout the year, many of which will continue to serve throughout this year.
